This past weekend was the Met Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum and although (I'm being so honest, it's embarrasing) I'm not entirely sure what this show honors BUT it has always been one of my favorite ceremonies because celebs show out in some of the most peculiar yet gorgeous outfits! Forget the Academy Awards or The Grammy's, for some reason I just feel like the Met Ball brings out the regal yet avant garde side of our high fashioned celebutantes. Anyway, here are some of my favorite looks from the night:
| Carey Mulligan in Prada |
| Solange in Rachel Roy |
| Paula Patton in Vera Wang |
| Ivanka Trump in Peter Pilotto |
| Rooney Mara in Givenchy |
| Jessica Stam in Dior |
Coco Rocha in Vintage Givenchy
Overall, for me, I thought that the floor-length figure-flattering gowns did the most justice that night. Most of the celebs didn't stick to the typical floor-length ball gown that we see at these sort of shows. No, a lot of them went for the traditional body-con/mermaid style however they incorporated trends like sheer, lace, cut-out, leather, studded, peplum and prints. Another aspect that I love about events like the Met Gala is that (although we see this at other places too) we get to see the models show their high fashion sense. I think as consumers of fashion and people who stay current, we see a lot of the "model on/off duty" pictures on Tumblr and other blogs however it is always nice to see the models showing that they are not just their to be fitted and photographed; some of them really do love fashion and they get to show it at events like this (and lawddd, Coco Rocha's hair is F.I.E.R.C.E.).
Hope you enjoyed seeing some of my favorite looks, who do you think dressed, as some say, FOR THE GODS? (and who do you think dressed for the demons, in other words, was a hot mess)

I love Solange's gown. The mix of pink and yellow on Coco Rocha has given me an idea for colour-blocking. Nice picks:)
ReplyDeleteI know Solange's dress is gorgeous, right? These are all gorgeous!
